Job Description

Eaton is looking for a Controller.  The Controller will be located in our Brook Park, OH facility.

Position Description:

This roles is responsible for the controllership function of the NA Financial Shared Services (NAFSC).  The Controller is instrumental in managing financial performance of the NAFSC including analysis of forecasts and actual performance, business drivers, and operational metrics. This function will closely operate with various Corporate Departments (Tax, Treasury, Accounting, IT, others), WHQ Global Financial Accounting teams, and be responsible for ensuring compliance with Corporate Policy and legal requirements; functions as an agent of change to improve systems and procedures.  The individual concerned will need to have strong technical knowledge of US GAAP as well as an ability to meet tight deadlines on a variety of tasks, work closely and effectively with variety of business partners at the Corporate & the NAFSC level. 


A. Develop and coordinate the NAFSC annual profit plan, monthly forecast, reports and analysis for the NAFSC Sr. Leadership Team, including variance analysis and cost control reporting and recommendations

B. Manage the NAFSC ledger: 
- journal entries – accruals, adjusting, allocations, repeating 
- track facility headcount 
- code facility invoices 
- reporting – submission, distribution, creation (includes Oracle and Radar) 
- use tax assessments 
- track facility fixed assets and capital projects 
- interpretation and application of corporate policies/US GAAP 
- analysis – accruals, prepaids, special projects 
- administer FSC Billing application – maintenance, improvements, analysis 
- administer Oracle access billing 
- provide variance comments to WHQ – actuals/profit plan/forecast on PTD and YTD basis 
- provide activity comments to WHQ – prepaids and accruals 
- completion of year end schedules; tax schedules 
- prepare letter of representation 
- lead creation of annual profit plan in coordination with senior management 
- prepare monthly rolling forecast in coordination with senior management 
- conduct quarterly balance sheet review per financial policy Z-7 & Z-8 
- conduct quarterly finance review with senior management 
- support various projects/analyses as needed in support of senior management 
- assess NAFSC ledger against SOX requirements, including preparation of SOX narratives, annual DSA, identification of issues/gaps and identification and execution of action items 
- Liaison with Corporate IT on IT costs/billings to the NAFSC

C. Coordinate with 1-2 team members engaged in account reconciliation activities for NAFSC accounts and other specified corporate ledger accounts (e.g. bank accounts)

D. Maintain the NAFSC Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and other operational metrics: 
- collect team and facility data to calculate BSC metrics 
- prepare BSC and financial statement results/presentation 
- present BSC and financial statement results to facility 
- maintain operational metric process for the NAFSC 

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in accounting 
• No relocation offered; candidate must reside within 50 miles of the Eaton Brook Park, OH site 
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship 

Preferred Requirements: 
• CPA/CMA or Master’s degree  preferred 

• Public accounting experience preferred
• Sound working knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and other relevant accounting requirements 
• Demonstrated effective use of Microsoft Excel, Word & Other PC Skills 
• Oracle or SAP experience and SQL knowledge a plus 
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills 
• Strong, proven problem solving and written and oral communication skills required 
• Works well in a team environment 
• Must be detail oriented and have proven ability to meet deadlines
