Job Description
Eaton’s B-Line Division is currently seeking a Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager will be based out of our Highland, IL facility.
 
Position Overview :
As a Logistics Manager, you will be accountable for a $42 Million spend in Flatbed, Small Parcel, Intermodal, LTL, and Ocean Freight supporting B-Line customers and operations worldwide. Reporting to the division Supply Chain Manager and working with the Eaton EIIG Transportation team, the Logistics Manager administers transportation policies to optimize service and minimize cost.
 
Essential Responsibilities :
  • Stay up to date on the transportation and logistics market including fuel prices, capacity and developments which could impact the B-Line global business.
  • Proactively take action to mitigate risk and advise senior management accordingly.
  • Provide direction to the entire organization on carrier and vendor selection, mode usage, and service pricing for both inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Oversee the freight payment process.
  • Review logistics spend and customer freight charges to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Review carrier and vendor selection to ensure compliance with logistics strategy.
  • Assist when required with rate rationalization, bid and negotiation process.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with carriers and vendors.
  • Work with Sales, Marketing, Finance and other internal stakeholders on the establishment and improvement of transportation programs.
  • Conduct in-depth logistical analysis around mode and carrier selection, product placement and sequencing in order to improve service and drive down freight costs.
  • Work with customer service to resolve issues on specific transportation problems and to expedite shipments when necessary
  • Identify opportunities, develop concepts and implement solutions to reduce non-value added activities and cost.
  • Ensure that the quality of the work by the team meets, if not exceeds, the expectations of the business.
  • Increase the productivity and impact of the team through improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Develop the team.
  • Promote a positive working environment that enables and encourages teamwork and excellence.
  • Manage departmental budget.


Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in logistics/distribution/supply chain functions
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is being offered. Candidates being considered will be based out of our Highland, IL facility.

 

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree or MBA

 

Position Criteria :

  • Experience in the transportation and logistics industry preferably with flatbed, intermodal and international freight forwarders
  • Negotiation skills
  • Analytical skills such as being able to extract data, organize it in Excel or Access, utilize it to make key business decisions and communicate it throughout the organization
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient with MS office applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
