The objective of the Technical Sales Internship Program is to develop students in the sales function in the electrical and manufacturing industry through practical experiences, as well as assist in the personal development of leadership competencies through training, networking and coaching. The assignment will help the participant develop a wide range of leadership and functional competencies within the field of Technical Sales.
The internship program will expose a participant to selling electrical products, solutions, and value in a competitive marketplace within a team environment to distributors, contractors, consultants and end customers.
Participants will be assigned meaningful and challenging projects in their sales offices while performing other duties that might include: project take-off and bid preparations; preparation of bills of materials, terms and conditions, and pricing; preparation of submittals, quotations follow-up, negotiation tracking; administration of change orders; support to Inside Sales and Outside Field Sales Engineers; and other responsibilities as assigned by the manager. There will also be several training opportunities available throughout the internship experience.
In order for you to maximize your experience in gaining customer and sales knowledge and to complete your project work assignments, you may be required to travel to various regional locations which could include, but are not limited to, customer sites, end user sites, and other Eaton locations, and you will be responsible for securing your own transportations to these locations. Some duties that may require regional travels are as follows: host & help lead regional sales and synergy meetings, administer surveys to distributors in multiple locations, train different customers on our sales software systems, represent Eaton at trade shows, and visit our Customer Manufacturing Solutions Centers (if available in your location) to help manufacture products and understand our manufacturing processes. Expenses incurred for approved business travel will be reimbursed to you per the terms of Eaton’s expense reimbursement policy.

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or industrial & systems majors preferred);business, business administration, business management, marketing, industrial distribution, or engineering technology
Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 (Career or in-major GPA will not be considered)
Minimum of one year of collegiate courses completed or equivalent by the start of the internship
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without Company sponsorship
Geographical flexibility to relocate within the United States for the duration of the Internship Program
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
Prior internship or co-op experience
Demonstrated leadership ambition
Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills
A second language is beneficial but not required
To maximize your Tech Sales experience, the intern may be required to travel to regional locations and the intern is responsible for securing his/her own transportation to these locations
*Transportation to and from the worksite and for incidental business travel is the responsibility of the intern; however, expenses for required and approved business travel (not including the worksite) will be reimbursed. The summer internship culminates with a formal presentation where students showcase their success stories to leaders of the organization and receive feedback on their performance.*
